A little pot of Kiehl's goodness

Until recently, using an eye cream has never been something that I have stuck to religiously. But being 23 and wanting to prevent ageing as much as possible, I decided it was time to invest in a new eye cream. I have always had trouble with concealer creasing around my eye area and just not sitting right, even when applying an eye cream underneath my makeup. After doing a bit of research, I realised that my under eye area was dehydrated and in need something rich and moisturising. Say hello to the Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment. I picked this little pot of goodness up after trying out a few samples and I can honestly say it's bloomin brilliant! Since using it, my concealer sits SO much better on my skin, without caking or creasing like it used to. It's thick and moistusrising, keeping my under eye area hydrated and as a result, helping to prevent signs of ageing in this area.

At £20 it's not the cheapest cream out there, but I would have no problem repurchasing this over and over again! A little really does go a long way and this has definately become a holy grail skincare product.

What's your favourite eye cream?

90's Nudes -Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Colour

Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Colour in 'Soft Nude'*
Rimmel 1000Kisses Lipliner in 'Tiramisu'- £2.99

The 90's nude lip has been one of this years big make up trends, encouraged by Kylie Jenners signature pumped up pout look. Whether they are surgically enhanced or just a case of clever make up skills, there's no doubt that she has been massive inspiration for this seasons key make up look.

I was recently gifted this lipstick in a goody bag and i've gotta say, it's my new favourite lippie! A creamy texture with a matte finish, this lipstick really is the perfect formula as it is also super long lasting. I paired it with the Rimmel lipliner for a little definition and to give that fuller lip effect. If you're looking for a deep browny nude to add to your collection, I would definitely recommend checking out this little number (and the other gorgeous colours in the range too).

For £19.50 they're not the most purse friendly, but would be a lovely christmas present for a friend...or even for yourself :)

A cosy haul

Beige and Black chunky knit jumpers-Zara
Polo neck jumper- Zara
Slippers and socks- Primark

As Winter begins to creeps upon us, I find myself opting for chunky knits, high necks and cosy slippers and socks to keep me warm (not forgetting a big cup of tea whilst snuggled up on the sofa). I picked up these jumpers from Zara for a bargainous price of £15! They're super soft and will definitely keep me warm this winter, along with the beige polo neck I managed to snap up from the kids section for £9. I got it in a size 14-15 girls, which I would say is about a uk 8-10 so definately check out the kids section! A little tip for you there :)

If you love nothing more than popping on some fluffy slippers or thick socks, Primark is the place to go. They have a great range of winter warmers for your feet at such good prices and i'm sure i'll be popping back to stock up on some other colours. Another piece I picked up recently which doesn't feature on this post is a lovely warm blanket style scarf from H&M. They seem to be everywhere on the high street at the moment, and what better way to keep you snug through the cold mornings and evenings.

Where are your favourite places to shop for cosy winter pieces?

A small haul...

Since starting my new job about a month ago, I have definitely caught the shopping bug and living by the 'treat yo self'' motto. After having to watch the pennies and be sensible, it was time to feed my shopping addition and treat myself to a few new bits and pieces.

Brandy Melville is probably one of my favorite shops (not the cheapest I have to say) for basics. The cut and fit of their clothing is spot on and although everything is one size, everything seems to fit like a dream. This cream dress is a perfect layering piece for winter that will also look just as nice on its own come summertime. I have already worn this grey Monki vest top to death, great to throw on when you don't know what to wear. Monki is another great place to shop for basic tees, the quality is lovely and pretty reasonably priced. If you're looking to update your jewellery stash then definately check out Forever 21 as you can find some gems in there.

I have been buying a few other bits and pieces recently so keep your eyes peeled for a part two to this post...maye even a part 3. Oopsy!

What have been your favorite shops recently?

The embroidered top

Top-Peacocks
Jeans-Topshop
Sandals-H&M

Embroidery has been everywhere this summer. All for embracing the boho look, I picked up this gorgeous blouse up from Peacocks a few weeks back for only £9! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it in the sale section as it definately has that Free People feel to it. A great transitional piece to take me into autumn winter, I can already see myself pairing it with chunky boots and warm winter coats as we welcome the colder months, giving a nod to the folk trend. A great accessory to pair with this style top would be a fedora hat..another thing to add to my a/w wishlist :)

As much as I would love for summer to last a little bit longer, it's always around this time each year that the excitement for winter fashion kicks in. It is too early to start coat shopping?

Kick starting a lifestyle change...finding motivation

Today's post is something a little different and a bit more personal. A few months back I decided to make some lifestyle changes. It was time to get fit and change my diet, with the aim was to lead a more healthy and happier life in general. After being stuck in a bit of a rut due to unemployment and other personal reasons, I knew I had to start making some changes, but lacked motivation.

I will be doing some further posts on how I began to make those initial changes and tips for keeping it up, however I wanted to focus this post on the motivation side. If I had a penny for the amount of times I said I was going to diet/eating less junk food/stick to an exercise regime and then crack after a few days, I would be a very rich girl! This time was different. It was a lifestyle change, NOT a diet that I knew I would struggle to maintain in the long run.

My initial motivation came from my brother, who has over the past year, been working out regularly and increasing his fitness levels alongside having an extremely regimented diet. Now I may not and most probably never will be at his level of dedication and fitness, but I found that even just having someone in the household with that outlook really gave me the push I needed. Having a family member or friend joining you on your journey will definitely give you extra motivation. I dusted off the weights, became best friends with Jillian Michaels (30 day shread- enough said), and began researching healthier and cleaner food options that I could introduce into my diet.

Do you have a certain goal weight you want to achieve? Is there a particular occasion you want to look extra toned for? Or similarly to me, is it just a general lifestyle change you wish to implement? Even if something like treating yourself to a new pair of trainers gives you that final push of motivation, then go for it! I picked up these Nike ones in the Asos sale recently after feeling a little sluggish, and they have been a great pick me up to get back on track.

Bite the bullet and make that change, because it will honestly be the best thing you ever do.

Feeling minty

Skirt-New Look
Top-H&M (similar here)
Boots-New Look

I wore this outfit out for my friends birthday drinks last weekend. Mint green is such a lovely colour for summer,  I managed to grab this one in the New Look sale for a tenner! The midi skirt is my go to style at the moment, perfect for us girls who lack a little confidence in the leg showing department. The crochet texture adds a little something extra, I think it's so feminine and girly especially with the little slip underneath. I've been seeing a lot of lace midi skirts floating about recently, this Choies one is gorgeous!

Hope you're having a nice weekend, hopefully this beaut weather will continue!

July wishlist

Untitled #11

White crochet lace shorts (Similar here)
White embroidered top (Similar here)
Nike workout shorts

Since the weather has been pretty darn good recently for a typical British summer, I feel like my wardrobe is in need of a few extra pieces to take me through the warmer months. (Any excuse to shop eh?) I absolutely love all of the bits above in particular the white skirt, shorts and embroidered blouse. White is such an effortless looking colour in the summer, especially paired with a tan. Embroidery is huge this season, and i'm all for adding a little more boho chic to my outfits.

My much loved beige Converse are on their way out and  I thought black would make a nice change to go for a black pair. Converse have always been my go to trainer, and have lasted me well. (5 years to be precise!)

How stunning is this Triangl bikini? Although they're not the most purse friendly bikinis on the market, there is something about them that I just love. The Soap and Glory body butter is probably one of my all time favourites. It smells good enough to eat! If the almond, pistachio type scents are your sort of thing then this is definitely one for you.

What are you lusting for this summer?

Purse friendly skincare gems

Being a bargain hunter at heart, I am always browsing the drugstore for good skincare products which claim to have similar results to those cult high end brands we all covet but for a fraction of a price. I have recently found three little gems, both which are purse friendly and effective in what they do.

First up are two products from the Boots Botanics range: the 'Rosewater Toning Spritz' and the 'Cleansing Toner All Bright'. The toner is a calming, cooling water based toner that hydrates and soothes your skin. Although I have only tested out the Caudalie Beauty Elixir in store, I would definately say that the Botanics offering is a great dupe! If the thought of spending nearly £20 on a spray toner is a little daunting for you, then definately give this Boots one a try as I personally love the Botanics one and have repurchased over and over.

The 'Cleanser Toner All Bright' is a mild exfoliating toner which aims to brighten and cleanse impurities. When my beloved Pixi Glow Tonic ran out I decided to give this a try, and I was pleasantly suprised! I swipe this over my face using a cotton pad every few days, and I can definately notice that my skin is brighter. Although I would still say the Glow Tonic gives better results, for £3.99 this is a lovely little chemical exfoliant to add into your skincare routine.

Last up is the Good Things 'Grape & Pomegranate Creamy Cleanser'. This really is a lovely product and I think it would be great for those with sensitive skin, as it feels extremely comfortable and calming when lathered up. It is also free from parabens, sls and mineral oil, and for £2.99 it does a just as good of a job at cleansing your skin as some other higher end cleansers.

These are just a few of my budget skincare reccomendations, these may not work for everyone but I am really enjoying using these at the moment! Special mention also goes to the Garnier Moisture Match Moisturisers, in particular the one for normal skin. What are your budget skincare gems?

The spring denim jacket

Denim jacket- Monki (originally via ASOS but sold out)
Necklace-Brandy Melville (similar here)
Jeans-Topshop

Similar to a leather jacket, the denim jacket is the perfect transition piece to take you into spring/summer. Ideal for keeping you warm if it gets a bit chilly, these lightweight jackets are a great substitute for a heavier winter coat and can be thrown over most outfits.

I recently picked up this Monki oversized number via the asos sale. I originally saw it on Meg's instagram and after being on the hunt for a denim jacket, I had to snap it up. The wash is exactly what I was looking for, and it has a nice soft feel to it compared to other denim jackets I have tried on. There was only a size small available, but this comes up huge! Typical Monki sizing eh. I did want the oversized look anyway so I think I can get away with it...although i'm still not 100% whether it's just that little bit too baggy. What do you think?

Another little update, I had my hair cut a bit shorter a few weeks ago. It feels so nice to have a cut, it feels a lot healthier and i'm tempted to go quite a bit shorter! We shall see...

Hope you're all having a lovely bank holiday evening, i'm about to have a nice bath and chill out watching Revenge and Made in Chelsea..oooh the drama!

Go bright or go home

Topshop nail polish in 'Totally Tumeric'

Normally a lover of nudes, pastels or a good old winter berry shade, this Topshop number isn't something I would normally opt for. After seeing it pop up on a few blogs, I thought i'd give it a try...a week later and it's still on my nails. I normally paint mine every few days! It needed two coats to give a nice opaque finish.

A lovely summer shade that would look gorge with a tan and will add a pop of colour to any outfit.

The powder blue jumpsuit

Jumpsuit-LOVE
Shoes-SheLikes*

How gorgeous is this LOVE jumpsuit! I decided to step out of my comfort zone a little and opt for this lovely pastel blue shade instead of black, as I think it's a nice spring addition to my wardrobe. This would look beauts on a night out and comes in a few other colours too! You can normally nab £10 off your first order if you sign up to their newsletter, or until midnight tonight you can get 25% off any full priced item using the code 25QUICK...gogogo!

A few March additions

How are we already coming into April? Oh my this year is going by quickly. Here are a few things I picked up over this month, including a few naughty boots purchases (Yes i'm a sucker for a 3 for 2 offer). I always find that around this time of the year, my excitement for spring summer overclouds my better judgement and I find myself shopping for more summer inspired pieces.(Even though i'm pretty sure us Brits will still be needing our cosy knits throughout spring haha!)

Beaded top-Miss Selfridge (sale)
White top and pattened trousers-H&M

How gorgeous is this beaded top? I found this beaut rummaging through the Miss Selfridge sale. I think it's perfect for jazzing up an evening outfit and would look even more lovely with a tan on holiday.

I think my inner Esmerelda gypsy may have taken over when I got this white top from
h&m. I love the off the shoulder detailing and ruched hem, I can just vision it paired with a pretty maxi skirt in the summer. It would also look  just as cool with a pair of high waist jeans...it's just something a bit different to your everyday white tee.

These trousers also caught my eye whilst I was in h&m, I think they could definately be smartened up or made more casual depending on the look you are going for.  I have wanted a pair of slouchy patterned trousers for a while but had yet to find a pair that didn't make me resemble someone wearing pyjama bottoms in public. I can assure you these do not when styled right!

Hope you have all had a good day, lets hope April brings lots of goodness and sunny weather!

Ps you can follow me on instagram at 'sarahterrell91' :)

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

Earlier this week I visited my best pal in Norfolk. It was so lovely to be in the countryside for a few days and have some girly time together, especially since we live about two hours away from each other! On Wednesday we decided to take a little trip into Cromer, and although the weather turned out to be a little less sunny than we hoped, it was still a lovely afternoon.

We had quite possibly the yummiest fish and chips I think I have ever eaten, finished off with a seaside must have.. a 99 ice cream. Thursday was spent having a mooch around Norwich, creating mental wislists in Mac and various other beauty counters. All in all a lovely few days!

On a less happier note, I came home to some sad news yesterday. My cat Coco had sadly been run over and passed away whilst I was gone :( She was such a beaut of a cat and will be very much missed!
